February Employee Spotlight

Luis Gonzalez

⭐ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT, FEBRUARY 2023 ⭐

This month’s employee spotlight is Luis Gonzalez, McGrew Equipment’s Auction Listing Agent. Luis photographs machines for the auction, proofreads the auction catalog, and carries the auction crew on his back. He started with McGrew in the wash bay about four years ago and quickly became the best pressure washer Seven Valleys has ever seen. He then moved into the sales office and took charge of machine photography.

In his spare time, Luis enjoys playing music. He is bilingual and is often pressed into service as McGrew’s de facto translator for Spanish-speaking customers. His favorite memories are the years he spent living in Florida.

Luis is the mentor of the auction crew—he sets the pace for his younger colleagues and leads by example. He enjoys working with the crew and getting the job done. Over the past four years, Luis has learned how to operate equipment of all kinds in all states of repair and disrepair.

We appreciate the hard work Luis puts in every day, and that is why we are proud to shine our February Employee Spotlight on him.

January Employee Spotlight

Andrew Laucks

⭐ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT, JANUARY 2023 ⭐

January’s Employee Spotlight is on Andrew Laucks, our Territory Support Specialist for Bobcat, helping our customers establish and maintain a dependable and trustworthy relationship. Andrew used to manage our auction yard loading and unloading all types of equipment and machinery that go into our weekly auctions. He has been with McGrew Equipment since 2016 when he first started in the industry!

In Andrew’s spare time he mostly enjoys relaxing but also loves riding motorcycles and used to play badminton twice a week in a local club. His coworkers might be surprised to learn he is a student pilot and went for his first solo flight in August of 2022, although he says his hidden talent is using the hook and chain to move things around. He also enjoys doing offsite equipment sales, going to the beach, and traveling to new places.

We asked if there was anyone he considers to be a mentor in his career and he said, “I’m going to say Zach Innerst but only because he paid me to say it.” Andrew’s favorite part about the job is helping customers with everything and fitting as much as possible onto each load. He said since starting with McGrew Equipment he has learned a lot, “The best thing you can do for yourself is learn something every day. Confidence creates loose ends, being adaptable is key, and no day is ever the same.”

Andrew has been a vital part of keeping our weekly auctions running smoothly putting in hard work and dedication every single day. That is why we’re proud to have him as our January Employee Spotlight. Thank you for everything you do!

December Employee Spotlight

Alyssa Badders

⭐ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT, DECEMBER 2022 ⭐

Our December Employee Spotlight shines on our Auction Coordinator, Alyssa Badders. Alyssa’s responsibilities range from uploading all the pictures and information to our 3 bidding platforms every week, to answering phones, assisting customers, and helping the truck drivers. She was introduced to the auction industry when she began with McGrew Equipment 2 years ago after seeing a job listing on Indeed!

When Alyssa isn’t hard at work preparing for our weekly auctions, you can find her spending most of the time with her family and 2 dogs. She has a 3-year-old Saint Berdoodle (St. Bernard & Poodle mix) named Sully who she says is her best friend. Her favorite hobbies are shopping and going to Starbucks! One thing her coworkers might be surprised to learn is she is the oldest of 14 grandchildren.

Alyssa considers her Mom to be her biggest inspiration both in & out of work, pushing her to be the best she can. She says without her Mom she wouldn’t be where she is in life today. Her favorite part about the job are her coworkers, saying they have become some of her best friends. “Being able to work together to get the job done is always fun!” Since starting at McGrew Equipment, she has learned to trust herself more. “Every failure gives you the chance to grow as a person and as an employee!”

We are appreciative of Alyssa’s hard work and dedication to her job, and always brings a light to everyone’s day with her bright and bubbly personality. That is why we are proud to shine December’s Employee Spotlight on her, thank you for everything you do!

November Employee Spotlight

Paul Anderson

⭐ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT, NOVEMBER 2022 ⭐

Our first McGrew Equipment Employee Spotlight shines on Paul Anderson, our Auction Manager and Purchasing Agent. Paul is responsible for lotting the auction each week, supervising the auction crew, proofreading the catalogue, providing guidance to the marketing team, answering customer questions and addressing customers concerns. It doesn’t stop there—he also purchases used equipment for auction and retail. Things run more smoothly around McGrew Equipment thanks to Paul.

Paul started in the industry with us 3 years ago, after a decade of teaching middle school in Baltimore. He worked construction for a summer and then took over as our Information Specialist. He owns a small farm and nursery business with his wife, Erin. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar and writing songs. Some of his favorite memories are the years he spent playing guitar and bass in bands. Some of his coworkers may be surprised to know he makes great bagels, so when is breakfast on you Paul?

There are a few people he considers mentors in his career. Gary Knisley guides him through the ups and downs of the auction industry, Greg McGrew & Zach Thoman taught him how to buy equipment, Abraham Raum taught him how to talk to customers, and Zach Innerst helps him every day with mechanical concerns. His favorite part about the job is watching a piece of equipment he purchased sell for a healthy profit. Since beginning with McGrew Equipment, the biggest lesson he has learned is that he can handle just about anything.

Our auctions continue to be successful for both our employees and customers due to Paul’s hard work and dedication to the company. That is why we are proud to shine a spotlight on Paul this month, thank you for everything you do!
